In 2007, CEPI was one of the first to propose a common framework, enabling companies to undertake carbon footprints for paper and board products, as there was no standardised approach for their development at that time.

The European paper recycling value chain has already made significant strides on the paper recycling rate in the EU having reached a near theoretical maximum of 71.5% in 2015.

The European paper industry has today launched the reviewed version of its 2050 Roadmap detailing the pathways and investment needed to cut its carbon emissions by 80% while creating 50% more added-value.
